Thursday 5 February 2026, 10:00am
Location: Hurstbridge Learning Co-operative School, Laceys Road, Hurstbridge VIC

Capacity: Open to those with a valid Working With Children Check
Nillumbik Reconciliation Group members are warmly invited to attend a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony led by Uncle Perry Wandin at the Hurstbridge Learning Co-operative School. Welcome to Country and smoking ceremonies are important First Nations cultural practices that offer respect, acknowledge Country, and create a space for reflection, connection, and shared understanding. Participating respectfully in these ceremonies offers a meaningful opportunity to listen to First Nations voices and deepen understanding of cultural traditions that continue today.
The ceremony will take place at the Hurstbridge Learning Co-operative, a small, independent progressive primary school established in 1973 and set on 17 acres of bushland. The school places strong emphasis on community, wellbeing, and connection to place, with a child-centred, outdoor learning approach that reflects values aligned with respect for Country and community.
Visitors are welcome to attend but must sign in at the office on arrival and present a current Working With Children Check (card, digital, or printed). To attend, please contact NRG or The Learning Co-operative in advance.
