DESCRIPTION:Every Thursday\, 8:00am – 10:30am\nBarrbunin Beek Aboriginal Gathering Place\, 55 Catalina Street\, West Heidelberg\nCost: Free\nCapacity: A few additional volunteers are currently welcome \nMembers of Nillumbik Reconciliation Group who are interested in practical\, community-grounded action may wish to support the weekly Food Share at Barrbunin Beek Aboriginal Gathering Place (“Happy Place” in Woi-wurrung). Barrbunin Beek is a dedicated\, community-led gathering place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people — a culturally safe and nurturing environment where First Nations people can connect with mob\, culture\, and Country\, and strengthen identity and self-determination. \nEach week\, volunteers assist in sorting and packing food supplied by SecondBite\, a community garden\, and other organisations\, helping prepare around 30 family boxes and 40–50 individual bags for community members. This is a simple but meaningful way to contribute to social justice for Aboriginal people today\, while supporting a local Aboriginal-led organisation and working alongside neighbouring reconciliation groups such as Banyule Reconciliation Group.
